What This Online Notepad Does

You type, and your words save as you go, right in this browser. Nothing leaves your device, so what you write stays private.

This is not a plain text box. Format your text, add a table, drop in an image, then turn the finished note into a PDF, a Word file, or plain text, or send it to your printer.

It works the same way on a phone, a tablet, or a computer. No sign-up, no login, no cost.

How to Type a Note and Save It as a PDF or Word File

Type your note, then pick the output you need. Each one uses the paper size and formatting you already set.

How to use Notepad Online

  • Type or paste your text into the online notepad.
  • Format it if you want: headings, bold, color, lists, a table, or an image.
  • Choose Download PDF, Download DOCX, Download TXT, or Print.
  • You land back in the same note afterward, so you can keep writing instead of starting over.

Convert Your Text to a PDF

Choose Download PDF once you are done typing. Your formatting, tables, and images stay in place, ready to save, print, or send to someone. A note longer than one page splits into multiple pages automatically, so nothing gets cut off.

This does not open or edit a PDF you already have. It builds a new PDF from the text you type here. To add text to an existing PDF file, use a PDF editor instead.

Save as a Word Document (.docx)

Choose Download DOCX to get a Word file you can keep editing later in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Headings, bold and italic text, colors, lists, tables, and images all carry over into the file.

Print Your Note

Choose Print to send your note straight to your printer. A note longer than one page prints as a multi-page document in the print preview, with page breaks that match what you will get on paper. If your printed page comes out cropped or the wrong size, check your printer against our print test page.

Blank or Lined Paper, Size, and Orientation

This page opens on lined paper by default, since that is what most people want here. Switch to Blank Page Notepad in the mode switcher for a plain page instead, or use Draw or Sign for a pen, highlighter, and eraser canvas, useful for a quick sketch or a signature. Draw or Sign notes download as a PNG image, not a PDF.

Pick your paper size before or while you type. The choice applies to the screen, the print output, and any PDF you export.

Formatting, Tables, and Images

This isn’t a bare text box. You get:

  • Headings, fonts, font size, and text color
  • Bold, italic, underline, and highlighting
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, with Tab to indent
  • Left, center, right, or justified alignment
  • Tables, with your own rows, columns, and border style
  • Images, either uploaded or pasted straight from your clipboard, resizable from 20 to 100 percent
  • Undo, redo, and Find and Replace, with match count and whole word or case matching, for longer notes
  • A confirmation-protected Clear button that wipes only the note you are working on, not your other saved notes

Already have a .txt or .md file? Open it directly instead of retyping it.

Is My Note Saved, and Is It Private

What you type saves automatically in your own browser as you go. It never reaches the website’s server, so it stays private to your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it, the same as any other local draft would be lost.

Name and keep more than one note in a recent-notes library, stored only in your browser. Work across several tabs in one session, each saved separately and kept in sync.

Sticky Notes: A Floating Version of the Notepad

Open Sticky Notes to pop your note into a small, resizable window that floats above your other tabs and apps, using your browser’s Picture-in-Picture support. If your browser does not support that, it docks in place on the page instead. It shares the same tabs as the main editor, so nothing gets out of sync.

Sharing a Note From This Online Notepad

Share a note with a link that is encrypted in your browser before it is created. The password needed to open it is never included in the link itself, and the encrypted note is never sent to the website’s server. You can also send a note through normal share options, like email or WhatsApp, if privacy is not a concern.

Online Notepad or Blank Page: Which One Do You Need

Both live on the same tool. This page opens it as a lined online notepad by default. Want a plain page with no ruled lines? Use the blank page tool instead, where the same notepad opens in blank mode. For printable ruled paper you can download and fill in by hand, see the lined paper templates.

Online Notpad Page Conclusion

Need ruled lines? This page already has them. Need a blank page instead? Switch modes above, or open the blank page tool. Pick your paper size, type your note, and export it as a PDF, a Word file, or plain text when you are done. Nothing leaves your browser until you choose to download, print, or share it.
